  • Professional Development Specialist:  The Professional Development Specialist provides culturally and linguistically appropriate educational and consulting programs for child care providers and other early childhood professionals and parents with the goal of enhancing the quality of early care and education available in the communities we serve.                                                                                CLICK for Full Description.
  • Provider Services Specialist:  The Provider Services Coordinator oversees the development, planning and implementation of the NYS Department of Health (DOH) Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to promote good nutrition and active play in child care settings as strategies to improve health and reduce childhood obesity.                                                                                                                                  CLICK for Full Description.
  • Registrar:  Registrars are responsible for implementing the registration process for school-age and family child care programs in Onondaga County.  Level II Registrars have the added responsibility of leading complaint investigations.  Registrars incorporate the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color, in consideration of the impacts and outcomes of their work.                                                                    CLICK for Full Description.

The MAT TOT training will be offered some time in April in our region.  More details will be offered at a later date.

OCFS has specific regulations about giving medicataion to children in child day care settings.  Regulations require all child day care programs that choose to administer medication, other than over-the-counter topical ointments, sunscreen and topically applied insect repellent, to meet certain conditions including having staff who are approved to give medication in a chilcare setting. 

Qualifications:

  • Valid NYS license as a physician, physician assistant nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Must be familiar with NYS OCFS child care regulations and various types of childcare programs demonstrated by at least one listed below:
    • Experience working with children in a NYS licensed/registered childcare program; or experience as a Health Care Consultant for the childcare community; or experience as approved SUNY Health & Safety Trainer; or other experience directly related to NYS OCFS childcare
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with adults as a trainer
  • Valid e-mail address
  • Ability to download and print materials

What is the Course:

MAT TOT is a three-day course designed to prepare trainers to effectively facilitate the MAT provider course.  Focuses on objectively observing participant skills and competecny.  Covers the entire MAT provider course in detail.  Participants must pass all MAT course competencies including the written test and the hands-on demonstration.
