Registration will start at 8:00 am with your first training beginning at 8:30 am. 

Session 1     8:30 - 10:00 am

1.  Child Abuse and Maltreatment including Shaken Baby Syndrome   instructor - Kristi Switzer (Cusa)

This training will cover the role of the Mandated Reporter and process of reporting suspected abuse/neglect of a child, including Shaken Baby Syndrome. Participants will review scenarios of suspected abuse or maltreatment and will use “indicators” to decide if a report should be made.   Covers Categories:   6, 7, 9

2.  Guiding Little Stars: Positive Behavior Strategies   instructor - Kris Kline

This training aims to equip daycare providers with positive behavior guidance strategies in line with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations. Educators will feel more confident in their ability to guide children positively throughout the day, equipped with practical tools and strategies that foster a nurturing and structured learning environment.   Covers Categories:   1, 3, 7

Session 2     10:15 - 11:45 am

1.  Purposeful Conversations with Young Children   instructor - Kristi Switzer (Cusa)

This training will discuss the many ways an educator can promote and enhance language development with young children and the importance of “being present” with children when you are talking with them.     Covers Categories:   1, 3

2.  Eyes on Every Child: Supervision   instructor - Kris Kline

Educators will review NYS OCFS regulations related to supervision to ensure daycare providers are well-equipped to maintain effective supervision of children as well as assess the strategies to utilize for supervising children.  Covers Categories:   1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7

Session 3     1:00 - 2:30 pm

1.  Mindful Moments: Cultivating Calm and Connection with your Environment   instructor - Kris Kline

Educators not only learn about wellness but also experience it and will leave with practical tools they can immediately use in their classrooms. Create tools and activities to promote a calm and nurturing environment.   Covers Categories:   1, 3, 10

2.  Beyond the Book   instructor - Kristi Switzer (Cusa)

This training will focus on fun ways to create your own literacy “tools” for your program. Participants will get to see some easy-to-make ideas for use with children and will have an opportunity to make a literacy tool to take back to their program.   Covers Categories:   1, 3
