Child Running outside

Child Care Solutions believes that high-quality child care is a vital community resource that supports families, enhances economic productivity, and nurtures children’s growth. Established in 1975, Child Care Solutions is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing information and resources to parents, providers, employers, and community leaders in Onondaga and Cayuga Counties (NY) who are seeking solutions to their child care needs.

Our History

1975 - The Onondaga County Child Care Council was founded as a result of a grassroots campaign aimed at establishing an independent, community-based, not-for-profit organization to coordinate and support child care in Onondaga County.

1976 - The Council opened its doors in downtown Syracuse with a staff of three, led by Executive Director, Mary Lou Rubenstein. The new organization provided coordination and support for child care services through community education, provider training programs, advocacy, and referral services for parents.
