Happy New Year to you all!! I hope you are blessed with good health and good fortune in 2024. Firstly, I/we want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we get caught up on delays in: processing applications, approvals of roles for staff, providers, assistants, and substitutes, and scheduling/following up on inspections. The Registrar Team has some staffing changes. Joining the Registrar Team are: Emily DeGone in October 2023 Ilenay Fuentes in January 2024 TBA staff beginning end of January 2024 Brittney Trumble began working as the Registrar Coordinator (co-supervisor), following Kim McDonald’s move to the NYS OCFS Regional Office in September 2023. Other changes impacting the Team and Registered Family Day Care (FDC) and Registered School Age Child Care (SACC) Programs in 2024: Our contract to complete the Registrar work for Onondaga FDC and SACC programs changed for 2024-2025. The Registrar Team is now required to conduct quarterly inspections for ALL programs in conjunction with Annual Unannounced Inspections initiated in 2020. Some inspections will be scheduled, some will be unannounced. We will do our best to try to coordinate the unannounced inspections at a convenient time for programs and providers, however there may be some inspections conducted during a meal/transition time and/or nap time for FDC. If you are providing care during non-traditional hours/days, our inspections could be at any time during your approved hours of operation. Registrar staff recognize your first priority and responsibility is to the children in your care. We will do our best to make the inspection as quick and easy as possible. See attached link below to a checklist of items to be reviewed depending upon the type of inspection. To make inspections go as smooth as possible: - Keep program records in a readily accessible location,
- Stick to your normal routine for children to help them feel as comfortable as possible, and introduce Registrar staff as a visitor to the program,
- Keep the Registrar office informed of any changes to your program. Remember some changes need prior approval.
- Train/orient your staff and caregivers about the regulations, questions we might ask, and records we may be reviewing.
- Inform the Registrar office in advance of any program closings.
