Conference Workshop Descriptions

9:45 –    10:45 am What Can We Do About Adverse Childhood Experiences? (May 1st)

This training will give childcare providers a better understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and strategies that can be used in their programs to reduce ACEs.

Instructor:  Lisa Potter

OCFS Categories:  3, 10

11:00 –    12:00 pm Staying in Regulation During COVID-19 (May 1st)

We will be discussing five major topics that are proving to be confusing to many childcare providers around how to stay in regulation with OCFS but also follow current DOH guidance related to COVID-19.  In addition, time will be provided at the end of the session for an open forum to allow providers to discuss different ways they are implementing new strategies based on current DOH guidance while staying in regulation with OCFS.

Instructor:  Tiffany Zappala

OCFS Categories:  2, 3, 4, 7

1:00 –    2:00 pm Hey! Start Clowning Around! (May 1st)

The fun-filled training will introduce a myriad of ways you can use a "circus" theme across all domains of learning to teach young children.  We will look at activities that involve creative expression, large and small motor skills, math and reading concepts, and much more.  Attendees to this training will leave with a multitude of ideas to create their own "big top of learning" in their own early childhood program.

Instructor:  Kristi Cusa

OCFS Categories:  1, 3
