Cognitive Development and Learning- The Discoveries of Infancy
Infants and toddlers are learning all the time from their interactions with caring adults and other children, observation of the world around them, and exploration or examination of objects that interest them. There are six discoveries of infancy according to the research of Jean Piaget. Knowing about the six discoveries can help caregivers recognize and facilitate infants' and toddlers' learning during children's ongoing exploration. Knowing about the six discoveries can also help caregivers explain to families some of the important things infants and toddlers are learning. In this workshop we will identify the six discoveries of infancy and develop experiences to enhance learning.
