Cavity Free Kids

The Cavity Free Kids (CHOMPERS) is a free program that focuses on oral health education for young children and their families. The evidenced-based program is designed to bring a comprehensive curriculum designed around dental care and oral health care to Head Start, child care, preschool, home visiting, and other early learning programs in Cayuga and Onondaga counties. The program is free and comes with a variety of materials and a curriculum binder that includes a wide variety of fun, engaging activities and lessons, and Family Engagement Tools based around the five basics of oral health:

  1. Baby Teeth are Important
  2. What Causes Cavities?
  3. Water and Tooth Healthy Foods
  4. Brush, Floss, Swish
  5. Going to the Dentist

Programs who participate in the Cavity Free Kids program receive a free half-day training by a Cavity Free Kids trainer, who will go over the curriculum components and how it can be incorporated in the classroom. The curriculum also has a parent component designed to include families and educate them on the importance of oral health care and dental care.
