New child care market rates based on the state-wide survey of child care programs and providers took effect October 1, 2011. Market rates determine the reimbursement ceiling for subsidized child care. These rates are divided by region with specific rates for each age group and type of care.

Programs and providers who contract with their local Department of Social Services (or HHS) may have a different, often lower, county market rate included in the contract agreement. Those rates and the decision to change those rates are determined at the local level. Some counties only pay contracted programs for children's absence days.
